The Nichols School Crew Parents provide organizational, volunteer and financial support to the Nichols Crew Team. It is the group’s mission to provide our dedicated athletes the opportunity to participate in a successful and competitive rowing program.
The Nichols School Crew Parents provide assistance to the Crew Team by:
Coordinating crew clothing purchases
Providing nutritious breakfast and lunch at regattas
Identifying and making reservations for suitable restaurants for dinner at multi-day away regattas
Chaperoning at hotels during multi-day away regattas
Making sure shelter from the elements is available at regattas
Raising funds to purchase boats and oars
Coordinating an end of the year party
Regatta Volunteers
About a week before each regatta, you will receive an online sign up. There are many different ways you can help and we need many parents for a variety of tasks.
For example, we need a person with a truck, SUV or van with a hitch to tow the supply trailer to/from each regatta; we need about 6 people to put up the tents either the night before a regatta or the first thing on the morning of.
We also need people to help with the take down at the end of a regatta. Planning this ahead doesn't make sense because you never know which boats will advance to the finals and be there till the end. So we ask parents of the boats that are there at the end to stick around and help with take down.
During the regattas we need help with table set up, food and beverages. Rowers are expected to help clean up after each regatta.
We have a parent council in place with volunteers that head up the various tasks needed for regattas. They will need assistance and we encourage everyone's participation.
